Looking for New Wildlife Locations

Kestrel

I am always on the lookout for new wildlife locations.

On a recent trip to a new local location there are signs of good things but the initial trip did not reveal a great deal. However, these scouting trips are very important not only to find your away around the area but also to talk to the locals who will have a great knowledge of what’s around.

From this initial trip I was able to establish that there was potential not only for the usual species of small birds, but also Otters, Kingfishers, Badgers and Barn Owls have been seen in this area.

Look for a location that has varying habitats, this particular one has lakes, rivers, woodland, scrubland and open fields.

The different habitats will give the opportunities for a wide range of wildlife to live and feed.

Social media is a great source for what’s going on around your local area with people posting images on facebook, instagram and twitter.

Check out the video below to see my latest visit to a new location.
